||Author's Notes: This is just a little story teaser that I wrote to introduce the idea of a full-blown, actual part-by-part story. Since it is now summer vacation, I have all the time in the world to write something like this. {Plus it keeps me from being bored, lol} I'm really serious about finishing it, because this story is going to explain the origins of the Renegades {and you guys know how much I love them} from back when it all started. Its mostly going to focus on Jera {you'll know soon enough who she is} and Fenrir. Trust me, I think you'll like it! And feedback is always welcomed ^^||
"Jera! Come back! Lady Jera!" At his desperate pleas, the steely black and gray fae stopped in her tracks. The wolves with her stopped as well, their eyes falling on their leader. She spoke with quiet authority, addressing her ever loyal beta without facing him. "You cannot change my mind, Fenrir. I was meant to do this, can't you see?" Fenrir started, his blue-gray eyes widening in disbelief. "But sister, this is suicide! Going straight to their camp is just another way to get yourself killed. Please, don't do this," he replied, on the verge of begging. Jera's green eyes softened, and she whirled around to face her brother. "If I can distract them, you and the others can escape. The wolves of Oblivion have a place here no longer; the Seekers have seen to that." Silence filled the night as sister and brother stared at each other, soft grass beneath their paws stirring in the wind.
Fenrir's eyes filled with tears. "I understand," he sighed, breaking eye contact to stare at his paws. Jera walked up to him, nuzzling her younger brother lovingly. "This is probably the last time we'll see each other. I want you to know that I will die with honor and happiness, knowing our pack will live on for generations because of my sacrifice. So in my place, once you cross the Bearun Mountains, you will be their alpha..my brother." Fenrir nuzzled her back, before she backed away. Her eyes were ablaze with the light of battle. "We go now, to fulfill our mission! If we must die, we'll take a few Seekers with us!" Jera snarled. The small renegade team howled their agreement, and they departed into the night, eager to die for Jera's dream of a glorious future for Oblivion. Fenrir sighed again, knowing his sister's valiant attempt was all in vain. He turned to leave, only to hear the frightful sounds of snarling and howling behind him.
