A young, pretty gray wolf padded around the boarder of WindPack. She scented the stale air and padded on, searching for the prey that she had smelt. The she-wolf spotted her prey, a young hare chewing on the somewhat green grass. She felt a wave of pride as she thought that ShadowPack was one of the only packs that had fresh stalks of grass, which meant prey, then the pack would be healthy. Shaking her head gently, she got back into the hunt. The wolf began to stalk the hare, carefully laying down on paw on the dry ground until she was a few fox lengths away. She braced her legs to pounce, and then she jumped, grabbing the startled rabbit in her jaws. Killing it swiftly, the wolf felt a warm flow of thick liquid in her jaws. The wolf began a kind of purr, like a cat but deeper, more awkward. She would give this meal to Echohowl, the medicine wolf of ShadowPack, she would like that a lot. Then, a brown flashed in the corner of her bright yellow eye. Reflectively, she dropped the rabbit and chased, running at top speed that she didn't even realize that she was over the Old Thunderpath and was now on WindPack territory. She caught up to the mouse and stopped it by her powerful paw, then grabbed it with her thorn-sharp teeth. "Caught ya!" She howled happily.

Blacksnow sniffed the air, searching for prey. A fawn was with its mother, to big to catch, but she could smell some good rabbit by windpack border. She followed the scent trail to the border where she saw her packmate run across. "Come back!" She hissed quietly so that no windpack wolves would hear. "They'll catch you if you don't hurry!"

Nodding slowly to the older warrior, she tip pawed out of the territory, but just as she was going to set foot in her territory, a voice deep and rough came from behind her. Icepaw froze in fear as she looked back, seeing Ravenstar, leader of WindPack

"I rather think that you both are a bit to late to avoid being seen." Ravenstar woofed dryly. "But I think it would be an excelent method of apologizing for trespasing on my territory if you were to give me back the rabbit you just took."

Icepaw's long, gray hair stood up on her spin, angrily, she pat. "Your rabbit?! It ran over on you territory!" Then she began glaring at Ravenstar.

The air was sticky and hot on the ShadowPack land, but not as hot as it could be. Then again, the semi-lush grass and water cooled down the territory by a few many degrees. Everything seem so...dead nowadays. Well, dead as in drying up. All the streams and rivers are slowly drying and there hasn't been rain since the cats were turned into wolves. The cats were a very different story, as most of them died in the first few months. The thought was just hilarious to one deputy. The mere thought of cats trying to live like a canine, how absurd!
Moonfeather went on one of her daily walks, just to clear the air a little bit and relax. She would always visit the graves and pay her respects to her lost ones. She has grown a lot in the past year, not just physically, but emotionally and mentally too. She'd gotten better about grieving, but not so much about seeing the deaths. All of the slaughters were too much for her to handle sometimes, as she just sat there and watched innocent wolves die. But, Whitestar always stayed by her side and almost helped her coach it through.
Up ahead, Moonfeather scented someone, or someones. One smelled of ShadowPack and one didn't, but why were they so close to WindPack? "Hey, what are you guys doing?" she called out as she approached the two she-wolves. Moonfeather reconized Ravenstar and once and dipped her head. "Why hello Ravenstar. What seems to be the problem?" she asked, tilting her head to the side. She could tell Icepaw was ruffled up by something, but by what? To calm the apprentice down, she gently laid her tail on her shoulders. The deputy prayed that the WindPack leader wasn't being so hostile to a young pup, even one such as ShadowPack. Moonfeather waited for a reply.

Ravenstar bristled. "You caught the rabbit on Windpack territory, so therefor it would belong to Windpack!" She didn't point out that her pack desperatly needed the prey. Subtly she dug her claws into the turf to steady herself.
Blacksnow glared at Ravenstar, her black and white fur begining to fluff out in protest. "She's only an apprentice, and it was just a mistake!" She barked.
Ravenstar looked at her cooly. "I only want the rabbit back so I can feed my pack."

Icepaw calmed slightly under the deputy's touch but immediately got angry again on how the leader thought it was her rabbit when it was ShadowPack's rabbit to begin with. She bristled again, glaring at Ravenstar. "But it was our rabbit to begin with!" She protested.

"How do you know that? All of the rabbit warrens are on Windpack territory so the rabbit must have liked on windpack land. Wouldn't it make the rabbit a windpack rabbit then?" Ravenstar growled. "Don't forget that you are tresspasing on my territory."

"By one paw step!" Icepaw protested, gazing at the one stupid gray paw on the moors. She looked at Moonfeather, searching for help from the deputy. She thought that Ravenstar was being unfair, it was their rabbit! It clearly smelt like ShadowPack, so why can't she just move on? There are plenty other rabbits on the territory, at least on Icepaw's territory.

Ravenstar growled, her hackles going up. "Get. Off. My. Territory." She hissed, her eyes blazing as she instantly went into attack mode. She stalked forward until she looked above the apprentice. "You need to teach your apprentices a bit about the warrior code."

Emeraldblaze and Redblaze came running down the hill "Trespasser" Redblaze growled through his teeth. "Leave the rabbit and go back to your own territory" Emeraldblaze said readying himself to jump. Emeraldblaze was used to this and but redblaze wasnt. All he wanted to do was go back to the pack to his mate. But shadowpack kept interuping his freetime.

"Enough!" Moonfeather snapped, looking at the warriors behind Ravenstar, Blacksnow, and Icepaw. The deputy's ears flew to the top of her head and her tail retreated back. Her good eye scanned the crowd of wolves. She did not want a fight right now, maybe later, but not now. "Icepaw, let her take the rabbit. They need it more than we do. However, Ravenstar, even though you are a leader, you know to show respect to all wolves, even those not from your pack. Yes, this rabbit might have scampered off of your territory, but it was caught and killed on mine. Now is not the time to fight, alright?" she growled, letting her tail slowly fall back into normal position.
Moonfeather never backed down, nor showed her belly unless nessicary. In this weather, WindPack had the worst with no water, food, or shelter for the blazing sun. The ShadowPack wolf felt deeply sorry for her and her pack. Yet, she looked Ravenstar in the eye, telling her to step of their land. Moonfeather looked at the young apprentice and told her not to worry. "Ravenstar, our packs have had peace for many moons. Don't let one silly rabbit ruin it all. No one would want meaningless bloodshed," the deputy muttered, grabbing the rabbit and throwing it onto WindPack territory.

Ravenstar narrowed her eyes. "Do not try and teach me of respect, I know what it is." Her tail lashed back and forth. "Do not forget that you were the first to set paw on our territory." Suddenly she relaxed, her ears perked up and her tail came up too. "But Windpack want's peace, we will not fiht with you today over land or food." She bent down to pick up her rabbit and turned away, signaling with her tail for her warriors to follow her.

As the Windpack wolves disappeared from view, Whitestar decided to make her presence known. She had been watching from the shadows and was proud of Moonfeather for how well she had handled the situation. "Ravenstar is prideful. She would never admit to her pack being weak, but then again, no leader really would," she said, walking up to Moonfeather and Icepaw. Her golden eyes were sympathetic as she gazed out into the moors.
"I feel for those poor, half-starved souls. They are so desperate to feed themselves, and though Ravenstar's motives and efforts are admirable, it does not mean she and her warriors have the right to harass us every time prey from our territory crosses into theirs'. This border will have to be closely watched." Whitestar averted her gaze to look over at her deputy and grinned.
"That was very well-executed, Moonfeather", she praised. "This is the second time this season that a border dispute has narrowly been avoided." And not wanting to leave Icepaw out, Whitestar turned to her next. "Moonfeather was right when she said Windpack needed that rabbit. It may have been wrong that they took what was rightfully our's, but we also have to remember their situation. All the same, better luck next time, young one. There's plenty of prey here yet."
